Nostrils are known as Shirodwara or the gateway to the head in Ayurveda. The nose is also the entry point of the vital breath or Prana vayu, which is crucial in maintaining vitality and mental clarity. According to Ayurveda, instilling herbal oils or Nasya is one of the essential holistic self-care practices that encourages healthy Prana flow and internal detoxification. Nasya helps to lubricate the nasal passages and clean out excess mucus from the sinuses. This helps reduce the frequency of sinusitis, allergies, and nasal congestion. Benefits 

Nasya should be done on an empty stomach in the morning after brushing and evacuating your bowels, 30 minutes before bath.

Gently massage your face and neck with a few drops of sesame oil, avoiding the eyes.

Place a towel over a medium-hot pan until it's slightly warm. Check the temperature and apply it over your face and neck, avoiding the eyes.

Lie on your bed, extend your hands and legs, and keep a pillow under your head. Ensure there is not too much sunlight or wind entering the room.

Place a container nearby to spit out excess mucus.

Place Anu Thailam in a warm bowl of water. After a few minutes, take out the Thailam and check it is sufficiently hot.

Instill 1-2 drops of Thailam in each nostril while lying down, face up.

When the medicine reaches your throat, spit out the excess mucus.
